OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/28/2025, Kansas City Police officers located 43-year-old George C. Manning on Vivion Road near Waukomis Drive following an overnight multi-location shooting and child abduction investigation in Platte County. Earlier that morning, police said Manning shot and killed a woman at a Riverside car wash, then went to a residence in unincorporated Platte County where police said he shot and killed a 12-year-old boy and shot an adult woman who survived. Police issued an AMBER Alert for a 5-year-old girl taken from the residence. Authorities located the child safe at a relative’s home several hours later.
Around 7:30 a.m., Kansas City Police officers encountered Manning on foot. Police said he had a handgun. Officers fired their weapons and struck Manning. Officers recovered a firearm at the location. Manning died from gunshot wounds. The Missouri State Highway Patrol is investigating the shooting by police.
