Inside, they encountered Tinsley holding an object, later identified as a cellphone, in a darkened hallway. On 02/28/2025, Glendora Police officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 39 near East Fork Road in the San Gabriel Canyon area that matched the description connected to a February 25 drive-by shooting on U.S. Highway 6 in Mineral County, Nevada, where police said a semi-truck driver was shot in the leg and survived. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist. Police identified the driver as Christian Castellon, 29, of Panorama City. When deputies arrived, Castellon drove away and police initiated a short pursuit along Highway 39. Manning on Vivion Road near Waukomis Drive following an overnight multi-location shooting and child abduction investigation in Platte County. Earlier that morning, police said Manning shot and killed a woman at a Riverside car wash, then went to a residence in unincorporated Platte County where police said he shot and killed a 12-year-old boy and shot an adult woman who survived. Police issued an AMBER Alert for a 5-year-old girl taken from the residence. Authorities located the child safe at a relative’s home several hours later.
Around 7:30 a.m., Kansas City Police officers encountered Manning on foot. Police said he had a handgun. Officers fired their weapons and struck Manning. Officers recovered a firearm at the location. On 02/28/2025, Jerome Police Department officers responded to the 500 block of East Main Street for a reported domestic disturbance involving a man inside a residence. Officers contacted Cesar “C.J.” Ramirez, 29. Police said Ramirez had a firearm during the encounter. Officers fired their weapons and struck Ramirez. Officers recovered a handgun at the residence. Paramedics responded and Ramirez was pronounced dead. The Idaho State Police are conducting the investigation into the shooting by officers. No officer names have been publicly released.

On 02/21/2025 at approximately 8:30 p.m., Clay County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call from a rural Harvard residence reporting a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, deputies located 35-year-old Heather Gray deceased from multiple gunshot wounds inside the home. Officers found 39-year-old Toby Gray outside the residence suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Three young children were present in the home at the time; they were unharmed and taken into protective care. Law enforcement transported Gray to Aurora Memorial Hospital and later flew him to Bryan Health West Campus in Lincoln for treatment. He was in custody and charged with first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony in connection with Heather Gray’s death. On the morning of 02/28/2025, Nebraska State Patrol officials stated that Gray was pronounced deceased at the hospital from his self-inflicted injuries. The Nebraska State Patrol continued its investigation of the homicide and related events.

On 02/28/2025, Hyattsville Police officers attempted a traffic stop on East-West Highway for a vehicle infraction. The driver initially stopped but then drove away at speed, and the officer briefly followed before ending the pursuit. Moments later, the same vehicle drove onto the shoulder and struck Esmeralda Montoya-Perez, 33, who was standing near a bus stop. Police and medics responded; Montoya-Perez was pronounced dead at the scene. Police later took the fleeing driver, identified as 23-year-old Warren Leonard of Washington, D.C., into custody nearby. Officers recovered a handgun with an extended magazine from Leonard’s vehicle. OOn the night of 02/28/2025, a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy was traveling southbound on Blue Ridge Cutoff in Kansas City when officers encountered a vehicle driving northbound in the southbound lanes at a high rate of speed. Police said the northbound vehicle was going the wrong way on the divided roadway. The driver’s vehicle collided head-on with the patrol vehicle operated by the deputy. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The deputy was transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries and was reported stable. Kansas City Police Department officers are investigating the incident.
