Memphis PD arrived at Breezy Pointe Apartments in Frayser and someone opened the door and fired a shot, injuring an officer. Memphis PD and SWAT arrived and the man committed suicide under police duress. The man was not publicly identified.

Sullivan County deputies were dispatched to the Dollar General store in the 1400 block of Highway 126 in Bristolfor a mental health welfare check at the location. Deputies arrived and the person in a truck reportedly refused to exit the vehicle and at some point in the encounter, two deputies opened fire on him, killing them. Casey Eric Crowley is believed to have been unarmed. It is unknown why police deliberately fired lethal shots at him.

Ana Ortega was walking a dog when she was hit and killed by a truck driven by an unnamed off-duty Clovis police officer Wednesday morningat about 7:50 a.m. on Clinton Avenue between Bethel and Greenwood avenues.The officer’sChevrolet truck was traveling east on Clinton and Bethel while Ortega was walking her dogwest on Clinton on the roadway when the truck veered into the direction of the woman causing critical injuries. Henry Najdeski, a prominent real estate lawyer, died after being struck by a pickup driven by on-duty officer Sgt. Joshua Hartup on April 19 as he walked across Main Street. Hartup struck Najdeski while he was making a left turn from Calhoun onto Main.Officer Hartup had been involved in four other squad car crashes in 2000, 2005, 2007, and 2019, all four of which were ruled “preventable” by the Accident Review Board. After the most recent crash, Hartup was directed to undergo two more hours of mandatory remedial driver’s training in addition to a reprimand. He then killed Henry Nadejski in the next crash.

Around 11 p.m. on April 19, police said they spotted a vehicle that drove away as officers approached. Policeescalated a chase that reportedly reached speeds of 90 mph and ended at an intersection when the vehicle went off-road and struck a tree before bursting into flames.Fourteen-year-old Jaden Bowman died. Around 7:45 p.m. on 04/28/2023, at a home on Walker Avenue in Tuscumbia after an hourlong standoff police created afterGeorge Handley allegedly threatened family members, he was shot and killed in his home by Colbert County deputies. It is unknown whether he was armed. No record of an internal investigation or officers having been charged can be found.

Jeffrey Martin shot a Jacksonville deputy outside Baptist Medical Center South on Tuesday night. the off-duty officer noticed a vehicle driving through the hospital parking lot “suspiciously”and tried to stop the car, but the person drove away. Other officers responded also and escalated a chase. The man inside the car rolled the window down slightly, held out a gun, then fired one shot into a police car. Police attempted to conduct a PIT maneuver. Jeffrey Martin then crashed into a police car, another police car head on, then crashed into a pole. He fired a shot through the window, hitting the officer in the face. The bullet lodged in his chest.Five officers shot and killed him.Jeffrey Martin had no prior criminal record.

A man’s body was found inside a vehicle in Burbank and according to the Burbank Police Department, the man had been the subject of a police stop earlier in the dayfor an undisclosed traffic violation. The officer noticed ammunition on the floorboard of the vehicle and ordered the man to exit the vehicle but the man took off in his vehicle, while police opted not to pursue. A civilian eventually contacted BPD to report seeing the person vehicle in the parking lot of Chase Bank at 1551 West Olive Ave. Theman was dead by an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was not publicly identified.

Laurens County Sheriff’s Office deputies tried to serve a warrant on Indian Mound Road in Laurens on Keith William Dramstad, 57, of the residence at 2221 Indian Mound Road. Dramstad presented “what appeared to be a weapon” and locked himself in the mobile home.” The LCSO SWAT team was called in and set off several explosive devicesincluding apparent tear gas grenades and “flash-bang” grenades and deputies breached the front door of the residence and found Dramstad with a self-inflicted cross bow wound. He had committed suicide under police duress.

Kent PD on April 18 were sent to the 12200 block of Southeast 259th Place for a report of a verbal dispute with a roommate. Wallace was reportedly intoxicated, pouring gasoline on himself. When police arrived, he approached them with a running circular saw. Kent PD shot and killed him.

Cabarrus County deputies chased an allegedly stolen vehicle into a crash. One person died, 3 others were injured. No public record of officers having been charged can be found. A St. Louis PD officer tried to pull over the car on I-70 near Salisbury Street around 12:30 p.m. per police. De’Jah N. Leonard fled the traffic stop, ran a red light and collided with a semi-truck just off Interstate 70 on Adelaide Avenueand died as a result of the police chase.

Round Rock PD tried to arrest a man on Tuesday at approximately 12:15 p.m.in the 1900 block of Denfield Drive for family violence. The man locked himself into the home and the Round Rock SWAT team tried to approach the house. The man fired one round and police requested help from the Williamson County sheriff's office and the Central Texas Regional who used robot, drones and gas canisters when at approximately 2:40 p.m., police determined through its drone that the man had committed suicide under police duress. Police did not publicly identify him.

The officer shot back but the man ran back inside the house. He was found dead in the burnt house later.

Shawnee Township PD were called to a domestic disturbance with shots fired. Police, deputies and SWAT gathered and a man emerged and started shooting at police. The man returned inside of the home and the standoff continued. He emerged again with a gun pointed to his head. SWAT began shooting beanbags at him. The man went inside again and did not return. Police found him later, having committed suicide under police duress.

Amelia Baca had worked for decades in produce fields and bought a little home where she lived. As she aged, she had developed dementia and her family was concerned that she needed to see a physician. They asked for help taking her in and police arrived, began screaming and she allegedly held 2 knives in her home. Officer Jared Cosper shouted expletives and opened fire on her, killing her. It is reported that she did not speak English and may not have understood him with her dementia making it further impossible to understand the situation she was in before she was murdered.

On 11/08/2023, the Attorney General's office announced that they find that the officer acted in self-defense and declined to charge him, stating the matter was now closed. Bodycam footage of the "self defense" shooting is linked below.

Deandre Shepard Jr. was being chased by Gardena PD on April 16, 2023 at about 2:40 a.m. and crashed and died at 94th Street and Harvard Boulevard. A Gardena PD patrol officer saw him driving recklessly in the city of Gardena and began chasing him which ended when he crashed and died. The officer’s car allegedly became disabled during the high-speed chase and Shepard crashed shortly after that.

Iowa State Patrol officer Waylon Wasson escalated a chase against a speeding driver who raced through town at 130 mph to escape the deputy. The car crashed into a Chevy sedan that burst into flames, killing third party motorist Duane Sievert.

Officer Wasson had previously shot someone in June of 2022 when he arrived at the wrong address and killed a homeowner.

At around 4:19 a.m. April 15, CHP Officer Javier Navarro on patrol spotted a gray Jeep Compass without a license plate on Interstate 15 in the Corona area. The driver Trayvon Antwan Ford did not stop. CHP escalated a high-speed freeway chase, reaching speeds up to 127 miles per hour, exiting and re-entering the freeway several times, with Ford ultimately crashing at the I-15 offramp. The Jeep rolled and two passengers were ejected with significant injuries. Trayvon Ford died at the hospital. The stated reason for this dangerous and lethal police pursuit was a missing license plate.
