OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On February 7, 2025, Linda Becerra Moran, a 30-year-old transgender woman, called 911 from the Pacoima Inn Motel on San Fernando Road, reporting she was being held against her will and feared for her safety. Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to the call and found Moran in a motel room. During the encounter, officers reported that Moran held a knife to her neck and pushed a mini-fridge toward them. An officer opened fire, striking Moran. She was transported to a hospital and remained on life support until she died on February 27, 2025. The incident is under investigation by the LAPD's Force Investigation Division, the Police Commission, its inspector general, and the district attorney's office.
