OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 03/12/2025, Elbert County deputies responded to a domestic violence call near County Road 77. They encountered a male armed with a handgun inside a fifth-wheel trailer. Deputies attempted negotiations, but the man refused to exit. Police deployed less-lethal rounds, and later used pepper ball rounds. The man fired at least two shots at officers. Three deputies opened fire. After an hour of no response, a drone was sent in and found the man unresponsive. The SWAT team entered and confirmed he was dead. The 23rd Judicial District’s Critical Incident Response Team is investigating.
