OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 02/28/2025, Glendora Police officers stopped a vehicle on Highway 39 near East Fork Road in the San Gabriel Canyon area that matched the description connected to a February 25 drive-by shooting on U.S. Highway 6 in Mineral County, Nevada, where police said a semi-truck driver was shot in the leg and survived. Los Angeles County Sheriff’s deputies responded to assist. Police identified the driver as Christian Castellon, 29, of Panorama City. When deputies arrived, Castellon drove away and police initiated a short pursuit along Highway 39. After the vehicle stopped, officers reported that Castellon moved inside the vehicle and then raised a handgun. Police said he shot himself inside the vehicle as deputies approached. Officers recovered a firearm from the vehicle. Paramedics transported Castellon to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities later stated forensic testing linked the handgun to both the Nevada highway shooting and a separate February 26 shooting in the San Gabriel Mountains in which a person operating a drone was shot and survived. Law enforcement described Castellon as a suicidal individual in crisis at the time of the encounter.
