OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On March 19, 2025, at approximately 5:50 p.m., Pell City police officers responded to reports of a man armed with a hatchet who was threatening residents and damaging vehicles at The Park Apartment Complex on 23rd Street. Upon arrival, officers encountered 22-year-old Pierce William Cole. Cole allegedly charged at the officers. An officer discharged their firearm, striking Cole. Cole was transported to UAB St. Vincent's St. Clair Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The St. Clair County Sheriff's Office is conducting an investigation into the incident.
