OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
Deputies from the McKenzie County Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence south of Watford City around 7:30 p.m. on March 31, 2025. During the encounter, one of the deputies shot a male individual. He was transported by emergency personnel to McKenzie County Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The deputy involved was placed on administrative leave pending investigation, as per department policy. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation is reviewing the case.
