On April 2, 2025, officers with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department responded to a report of a man firing a gun in the 3700 block of North Santa Maria Road in Laughlin. Officers located 33-year-old Michael Wayne Ray. Police opened fire and killed him at the scene. Ray had reportedly fired at multiple people before police arrived. The incident remains under investigation.
