On April 8, 2025, at approximately 12:26 a.m., Huntington Park Police Department officers responded to reports of a person setting a fire at Salt Lake Park near the 3400 block of East Florence Avenue. They encountered a 44-year-old male who had a large knife. Officers reported that the man refused commands and moved toward them. Officers opened fire and killed him. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is conducting the investigation.
