OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On March 19, 2025, Miguel Alvarado was accused of stealing a Bedford Park police vehicle while officers were responding to a call. After abandoning the squad car, he took a USPS truck and crashed into a family vehicle in Bridgeview, injuring a mother and two children. He was charged with aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle and aggravated reckless driving. On April 6, 2025, Alvarado was found unresponsive in his cell at Cook County Jail and was pronounced dead. The cause of death has not been disclosed, and an investigation is ongoing.
