On March 28, 2025, Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s deputies attempted a traffic stop on East 9th Street. Police chased the vehicle driven by 24-year-old Nigel Wayne Perry, who exited the freeway onto Eddy Road. His vehicle struck another car, sending both over a guardrail. Perry was pronounced dead at the scene.
