Lubbock PD allege that a man had fired a shot at an officer the day prior and engaged Texas DPS and SWAT into looking for the man the next day. They found him driving and chased him into a cotton field. At least 3 law enforcement officers chased him and allege he fired a shot. An unknown number of officers and SWAT fired an unknown number of shots and shot and killed him. The man’s name was not released. He is described as a short Latino male.

Troup County Sheriff’s Office announced that they chased a vehicle, escalated the hunt to 100 mph and attacked the vehicle with a PIUT maneuver which is known to be almost certainly lethal at such speeds and as expected, the car was hit by police, knocked off the road, ejecting a man and 2 women. The man died. The women were confirmed to be injured and in unknown condition. Police did not accuse the vehicle of anything other than not stopping on command and it appears that was why they were targeted by high-speed PIT and killed and injured.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office saw a stolen car and called Tacoma PD to recover it. Police heard shots nearby. A man and woman had been shot. The man died from suicide under police duress after allegedly shooting and injuring the female.

Kennewick PD alleged that Adam Paul Klei killed his brother-in-law and was seen walking in the area of 44th and Gum Street in Kennewick. Police followed him with drones and K9s until they found him in a ravine in the woods. Police allege that they fired beanbags and Klei shot and killed himself under police duress. Police allege that Klei, a pharmacist, and the brother-in-law may have been involved in criminal activity.

Canton PD investigated a “man with a gun” call, came upon Zach Fornash and shot and killed him. There was no 911 call. A patrol officer claimed that he was flagged down and sent to investigate Fornash. Zach Fornash was the father of two toddlers. Police have refused to give more detail so far.

Cleveland PD chased a stolen Amazon van into the path of another vehicle. The driver, Curtis Birchall, 70, was killed when the police chase crashed into his vehicle.

A Riverside patrol officer allegedly pumped gas at a gas station when he saw a man holding a gun. It is unknown what the officer did as this part is explained only as “was giving commands” but the man was described as “continuing to manipulate a weapon” and was shot and killed. It is unclear what police mean by manipulating a weapon but they did not state that the man pointed or used a gun and it remains unclear why he was killed from the statement by police without video or other evidence.

A 22-year-old man in a Lamborghini caught the attention of NYPD with a female passenger allegedly ran a red light in Inwood, NY. Police initiated a traffic stop. Apparently, the driver initially stopped but for unknown reasons drove away. Police escalated a chase and hunted the vehicle into another car, then crashing into the support pillar of the subway with 2 trains passing overhead during the crash. It is not clear whether police profiled the young man but the Lamborghini turned out to be legally rented. The only reason police mentioned as cause for the fatal chase was a traffic infraction. A 21-year-old female died inside of the flames.

LASD responded to a domestic violence call in Lancaster on East Avenue J-8 where a woman reportedly was in an apartment with a “large kitchen knife” during an apparent mental health event. LASD deputies allege that she verbally threatened a male in the home and therefore, deputies shot and killed her. She died with several bullets in her body.

LASD had arrived after Niani herself had called them because her boyfriend was attacking her. She needed help but because police allegedly found her with a knife in self-defense, they apparently misunderstood the situation and killed her upon seeing her. Eyewitnesses said her boyfriend threw her daughter against the wall which is when she picked up a knife to defend her and was killed by the intruding deputy. She was no threat to the deputy according to eyewitness family members.

On December 29, 2023, BWC footage was released by LASD which effusively praised itself for the release of what turned out to be a heavily redacted piece of BWC showing officers arriving, not seeming to understand who is victim and who is aggressor, seeing an upset woman screaming holding a knife to ward off a violent boyfriend. An officer is seen charging into the apartment which escalated the situation more and the escalation leading to a fatal shooting. Finlayson was killed in front of her young daughter. From entry until her death, only a few seconds went by. Police did not seem to have a plan and escalated the situation leading to the death of the victim, not the aggressor.

Meanwhile, the shooter deputy who killed her, Ty Shelton, had killed someone under very similar circumstances. His first victim had been Michael Thomas, a 61-year-old man involved in only a noisy nonviolent argument. LASD arrived and deputy Ty Shelton attempted to forcibly enter the apartment with Shelton citing the Fourth Amendment and denying police access. Shelton reportedly feared police, stating “I am now in fear for my life. You guys … just killed somebody.” Thomas’ family spoke up after Finlayson was killed and reminded the public that after the first murder, they had protested because they were afraid that Deputy Shelton would kill again. He did.

An Idaho State Trooper made a traffic stop and allege that a 34-year-old male passenger fired at them and they shot and killed him. Cortez had been arrested for drugs, then gun possession and had prior bad experience with police. Woodstock PD responded to a domestic disturbance. Joseph Taylor Goodson had allegedly locked himself into a home and when he emerged, numerous officers shot and killed him, stating he had a gun.

An alarm went off at Tractor Supply and police arrived and chased 2 teenagers who had been on the roof of the building. Police arrived and two frightened teenagers ran. One was arrested and Joe Paduchowski fled while a K9 was released and somehow landed in a pond and drowned while fleeing from police and their dog. Paduchowski’s father commented on Channel 4 WDIV Detroit’s website that “Our son was a great kid. This was nothing more than a childish prank by two kids that should have never been out on the streets at this time. This is proof positive that you should never take anyone or anything for granted”.

Douglas Alan Phipps allegedly fired shots at the town clock tower. Several O’Fallon officers drove up and eyewitnesses heard between 8 and 15 gunshots. Police allege that Phipps got out of the car with a shotgun. They shot and killed him. An eyewitness said he drove past her slowly, waved with one hand at her and seemed defeated with police chasing him. It is unknown why police escalated this fatal chase leading to a shooting.

Wichita PD arrived in the 4200 block of E Gilbert in Wichita where a domestic disturbance had been reported. So far, domestic violence is unconfirmed but a domestic fight of some type occurred. Police evidently treated the situation as “armed suspect,” with guns pointed at Stowe who was already reported to be in a fragile state of mental health before this traumatization.

Two women were found dead in a Meridian home. Police began looking for Clint Powers who tried to hijack a vehicle. It turned into a foot chase with police alleging that he fired shots at them. Police shot and killed Powers.

Lake St. Louis PD arrived at a Shots Fired situation at a park, saw a man with guns and tried to disarm him. Police allege they tried to take the guns from him and he refused, so they shot and killed him. It is unknown whether any deescalation was ever tried.

Fayetteville PD traffic-stopped Scotty Stacie and allege he backed up the vehicle during the traffic stop, causing the officer to shoot and kill him. Stacey was described as a “good guy”, a race car driver, someone who bothered nobody by friends. Fayetteville PD claims Stacey landed in a field and reversed to try to get out when a deputy appeared behind him, claimed Stacey was “driving toward him” and shot and killed him in the moving vehicle. Police did not release their bodycam and dashcam videos and this is a still unproven police narrative. Stacey had been charged with personal drug possession and fleeing from police months before his death. He was well-known in the area and police may have targeted him because of old charges.

Byron Carrillo was believed to have killed 4 people in Dallas and was located on the I-35 in Austin by Texas DPS. Police chased him until he crashed into a concrete wall and shot and killed himself under police duress during the chase.

Spokane PD arrived at the scene of an alleged shoplifting outside of a Walmart and engaged in what the PD describes as a “lengthy battle” between an alleged shoplifter and 2 officers attacking him. The man allegedly pulled out a knife under attack and inflicted unknown “slashes” to an officer. This detail so far has only been claimed by the PD and not confirmed by eyewitnesses who recall that he had been knocked down and took off running from the attacking officers who tased him and then shot and killed him. The official narrative does not fully match eyewitness accounts as police claim they were fighting off a knife attack while an eyewitness saw the man running away from police when killed instead. Video footage and more eyewitnesses would be helpful. It is completely unclear why police escalated such a physically aggressive and injurious attack over what is described as a retail shoplifting event.

Wichita PD arrived at a mental health crisis with domestic disturbance in which a man-made suicidal statements. Police arrived and it is unknown what unfolded by the situation deteriorated with police attempting to force-search him for guns and he allegedly pulled a gun from his waistband and was shot and killed. Police have a very poor record of resolving such situations without escalating violence and mental health specialists should be involved in all such calls.

Police allege that they were called to a home, did not elaborate on the reasons, did admit that they created a 3-hour standoff, apparently involving numerous LEOs and that at the end, they shot and killed Joseph Tyler Goodson.
