OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 07/07/2023, Roy police responded to Orchard Cove Apartments at 1813 W 4650 S after receiving reports of a suicidal man with a firearm. Officers established a perimeter and negotiated with 39-year-old Steven Stan Kirkman for approximately three hours. During the standoff, Kirkman exited the apartment armed with a 12-gauge firearm. Police stated that he pointed the gun toward officers. Officers opened fire and struck him. Kirkman died from gunshot wounds. The Weber County Attorney’s Office later reviewed the shooting.
