On April 22, 2025, Texas City police responded to a domestic disturbance call in the North Village Subdivision. Officers arrived and found a woman shot in the leg. As they attempted to help her, 47-year-old Samuel Reynaldo Garcia opened fire on them. The situation escalated into a SWAT standoff. Garcia was shot and killed by police during the encounter. The injured woman was transported to a hospital and is expected to survive.
