OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On April 24, 2025, Fulton County police responded to a report of suspicious individuals at the 3500 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in the Adamsville neighborhood of Atlanta. Several individuals fled the scene. 24-year-old Damario Smith ran to his vehicle. Officers approached, and Smith allegedly produced a handgun. Officers opened fire, striking Smith. He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation.
