On October 5, 2024, around 2:15 p.m., Metro Nashville Police Department officers attempted to apprehend 40-year-old Corey Daniel Wellman, who was wanted for attempted murder. The encounter occurred near The Gulch area in Nashville.During the attempted arrest, Wellman exchanged gunfire with the officers. He was fatally shot during the shootout.
