On 05/01/2025, Dustin Johnson, 36, allegedly shot his ex-wife's current partner multiple times in the parking lot of the Argosy Casino in Riverside, Missouri. Johnson fled in a rented U-Haul truck, leading law enforcement on a pursuit into Kansas City. The chase concluded near the intersection of Interstate 29 and Interstate 435 after officers deployed stop sticks to disable the vehicle. Following a 30-minute negotiation, Johnson exited the vehicle with a firearm pointed at officers. Two Riverside police officers and one Platte County sheriff's deputy discharged their weapons, striking Johnson. He was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The initial shooting victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
