On May 23, 2025, around 2:20 a.m., Unified Police officers responded to a reported armed robbery near 165 W. 7200 South in Midvale, Utah. Officers encountered 32-year-old Dustin Pearson of West Jordan. Police stated that Pearson was armed with a knife and a confrontation followed. During the encounter, officers opened fire and shot him. Pearson died at the scene. The incident is under investigation.
