EVENT NARRATIVE:
On 11/20/2021, Georgia State Patrol pursued a Hyundai Sonata driven by 27-year-old Joseph Hunter Massengill from the Ringgold area of Catoosa County, Georgia, north across the state line into Hamilton County, Tennessee. During the multi-state pursuit, police alleged that passenger Jake Hobbs fired several shots at the pursuing Georgia State Patrol trooper.

The pursuit continued into Tennessee, where the Tennessee Highway Patrol also became involved. Reporting stated that shots were fired at both Georgia State Patrol and Tennessee Highway Patrol during the chase. Police continued pursuing the Sonata onto Highway 153 in Hixson.
