Houston police confronted a Latino man after multiple reports that he was threatening people with a baseball bat and had previously charged a security guard. Officers located him near Wirt Road and Hammerly Boulevard and issued commands in English and Spanish to drop the bat. The man ignored orders, picked up a chunk of concrete, and advanced toward officers while armed with the bat. Officers deployed Tasers multiple times, which failed due to his heavy clothing. Officer K. Gideon opened fire, fatally striking the man.
