OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On January 18, 2024, 20-year-old Fernando Barajas-Reyes was killed while riding as a front-seat passenger in a 2016 Ford Fusion that crashed following a police pursuit in Stanislaus County. The pursuit began when Ceres Police attempted a traffic stop and the vehicle fled southbound on Highway 99. After exiting at Mitchell Road, the car sped east on Keyes Road and collided with a Ford Mustang at Geer Road. Barajas-Reyes was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash also left two other passengers and the teen driver of the Mustang hospitalized. The California Highway Patrol is investigating.
