OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 25, 2025, Fontana police officers responded to a reported domestic dispute at an apartment in the 9100 block of Date Avenue. Upon arrival, as the apartment door was opened, 31-year-old Kevin Reyes Portillo allegedly pointed a firearm at the officers. Police opened fire, striking Portillo. He received medical attention at the scene and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
