OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 23, 2025, Rockport Police attempted to arrest 43-year-old Christopher Buckley during a traffic stop after discovering active warrants. Buckley refused to comply and drove away, prompting a pursuit involving Rockport Police, Malvern Police, and Hot Spring County deputies. After crashing near Watts and McAlister streets, Buckley fled on foot. He was later confronted by police near Sand Road and Mt. Willow Road, where he pulled out a pistol and shot himself. He died at UAMS hospital on May 24. The Arkansas State Police are conducting an investigation.
