On 04/27/2021, Los Angeles Police Department officers attempted to stop Carlos Lopez in connection with a series of shootings that left two men dead earlier that day. Officers escalated a chase after Lopez refused to stop. The pursuit continued into Fullerton, where Lopez's vehicle was ultimately disabled. During the stop, a shootout occurred between Lopez and police. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
