OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On May 28, 2025, 50-year-old Carrie Hall of Cartersville was fatally shot by law enforcement during a traffic stop in Bartow County. Earlier that evening, Hall reportedly went to a residence in Bartow County and fired a gun. The homeowner, who knew Hall, identified her to deputies. At approximately 8:40 p.m., deputies from the Bartow County Sheriff's Office, assisted by a Cartersville police officer, located Hall's vehicle at the intersection of SR 20 and Conference Center Drive and conducted a felony traffic stop with guns drawn. Hall exited her vehicle with a gun and did not comply with repeated commands to drop it. Deputies and the officer opened fire, striking Hall. She was transported to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is conducting an independent investigation, and upon completion, the case will be referred to the Bartow County District Attorney’s Office for review. The names of the deputies and the officer involved have not been publicly disclosed.
