OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On May 31, 2025, Johnathan Findley, 38, was identified as the individual involved in a double homicide in Gilchrist, Texas. Witnesses stated that Findley had an argument with 45-year-old Eric Dopp and 24-year-old Wisdom Hall before fatally shooting both at a residence. He fled the scene in a white vehicle. A multi-agency search involving the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office and other local law enforcement located Findley later that evening on the I-10 service road in Beaumont. During the standoff, Findley refused to surrender and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. No additional video evidence or surveillance footage has been publicly released.
