OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On June 3, 2025, at approximately 10:00 p.m., LAPD officers from the Olympic Division responded to a radio call reporting an assault with a deadly weapon and shots fired at an apartment complex located in the 1000 block of Ardmore Avenue in Koreatown. Upon arrival, officers encountered 35-year-old Ronald Gainer Jr., who emerged from an apartment armed with a handgun. An officer-involved shooting ensued, during which Gainer was struck by gunfire. He retreated into the apartment but was taken into custody shortly thereafter without further incident. Gainer was transported to a local hospital by the Los Angeles Fire Department, where he was pronounced deceased.
Investigations revealed that earlier that evening, Gainer had been involved in a domestic violence incident with his girlfriend, who fled the apartment. Subsequently, Gainer exited the apartment and discharged a firearm into the air and at an adjacent apartment building, prompting the emergency call.
