On December 8, 2021, Pennsylvania State Police escalated a multi-county vehicle pursuit that ended in a fatal crash near the Route 412 exit on Interstate 78 in Bethlehem. The chase began in Upper Macungie Township and extended through multiple counties. The driver exited the highway at high speed, lost control, and crashed into a wooded area.
