OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

A Jeep Liberty failed to stop at a primary inspection near Three Points, Arizona, around 7:00 p.m. on August 7, 2021. Border Patrol agents pursued the vehicle with air support. Around 7:57 p.m., agents deployed a vehicle immobilization device on Interstate 10 near Picacho Peak. The Jeep lost control, crossed the median, and collided with a semi-truck in the eastbound lanes, then caught fire in the median. Two people died at the scene, and one died later at the hospital. Six others were hospitalized. The pursuit and crash are under investigation by Homeland Security Investigations, Arizona DPS, and CBP’s Office of Professional Responsibility.
