On 10/01/2025, Kewanee police attempted a welfare check and traffic stop around 8:45 p.m. The driver refused to stop. Police escalated two brief high-speed pursuits, then claimed to have called off the chase. Moments later, the same vehicle crashed into the North East Street viaduct; Alec Dillender, 25, died at the scene. No body-cam has been released.

On 10/01/2025, Cheverly police were investigating a stabbing when they located a vehicle in the 6600 block of Greenland Street. Chief David Morris confronted a man outside who was allegedly armed with knives. Police state that the man charged at Morris, who opened fire and killed him. Two knives were recovered at the scene. The victim’s mother disputes the account, saying her son was unarmed, in a mental health crisis, and not carrying a weapon. The Maryland Office of the Attorney General’s Independent Investigations Division is reviewing the incident, and Chief Morris has been placed on restricted duty.

On 09/30/2025, a Louisiana State Police trooper conducted a traffic stop on LA Highway 431 near Highway 935 in Ascension Parish. During the encounter, Brandon Nicholas, 34, was shot by the trooper. He was transported to a hospital and later pronounced dead. Investigators reported recovering a loaded firearm at the scene.
