OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On June 5, 2025, at approximately 2:16 p.m., Humboldt County deputies responded to the Bear River Recreation Center following reports of a man with a bloodied arm entering the facility. Deputies located 29-year-old Nicholas David Anderson, who refused medical help and did not comply with deputies’ instructions. Deputies briefly left after Anderson agreed to depart, but he remained and returned armed. A deputy discharged their firearm, striking Anderson. He was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead. The incident was captured on body-worn camera. Humboldt County’s Critical Incident Response Team is conducting the investigation.
