OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On 10/26/2022, officers pursued a vehicle suspected of human smuggling along U.S. 377 in Kimble County. The driver attempted to cross the South Llano River at a low-water crossing and the vehicle overturned. Jorge Moreno Lopez, a Guatemalan migrant trapped inside, drowned. This fatality was the result of Operation Lonestar.
