On November 25, 2024, Trooper Robert Darnell of the Oklahoma Highway Patrol used a Tactical Vehicle Intervention maneuver to deliberately strike a car during a police-initiated chase. The car was driven by Crystal Marie Price, who was being aggressively pursued over a paper license tag. The vehicle was rammed off the road and into a tree. Dario Hendrix, a 43-year-old passenger in the front seat, was killed instantly in the crash. Troopers falsely claimed Price swerved at them, but body camera video shows she did not. The chase lasted approximately 36 minutes. OHP policy discourages such maneuvers for nonviolent misdemeanor violations, yet no disciplinary action has been reported.
