OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On June 23, 2025, at approximately 10:30 p.m., Denver Police officers and a Denver Public Schools safety officer approached a man and woman near Kepner Beacon Middle School. The man was detained for questioning, and police claim he ran from the scene. Officers pursued him on foot. Police claim he was armed and fired at them. Officers opened fire and shot him. He was transported to Denver Health Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. A woman who was with him at the beginning of the encounter left the scene and has not been identified. Denver Police, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado State Patrol are conducting the investigation. No officers were reported injured.
