On June 24, 2025, Parma Heights Police pursued Patrick Kerr, 45, described as suicidal, in a black Ford F-150. He crashed into multiple vehicles at Tiedeman Road near I-480, killing one bystander and injuring others. Kerr remained in the vehicle for hours during a police standoff, reportedly holding a gun and refusing to surrender. He exited with the weapon and was shot by a SWAT officer. He was transported to MetroHealth Medical Center and pronounced dead.
