On 06/28/2025, a man wanted in connection with a homicide investigation in Jonesboro fled to a residence in the 200 block of Ashley Drive in Griffin, Georgia. Griffin Police, Spalding County deputies, and Jonesboro Police surrounded the home and issued a shelter-in-place order to nearby residents. A prolonged standoff followed as SWAT units attempted negotiations. The man ultimately died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound inside the home.
