Around 8 p.m. on 07/01/2025, deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a mental health crisis involving Dominic R. Saad, 23. Family members reported that Saad was threatening them with a firearm. Deputies arrived at the residence and observed Saad armed and standing on a balcony. According to law enforcement, Saad allegedly fired multiple shots at deputies from the balcony. In response, deputies opened fire, fatally striking Saad. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ventura County Sheriff’s Office has launched a full investigation into the incident, reviewing all body camera footage, witness statements, and other evidence.
