OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :
On July 3, 2025, Cedar Hill Police officers attempted to stop a U-Haul van for possible impaired driving on U.S. Highway 67. The driver refused to stop. Police escalated a chase into Dallas, where the driver stopped near Town Creek Drive and Glen Oaks Boulevard. The driver fled on foot into a wooded area. During the foot pursuit, a Cedar Hill officer opened fire and fatally shot the individual. It is unknown what prompted the officer to fire lethal shots or whether the man was armed or not. The Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and the Dallas County Public Integrity Division are investigating.
