On 07/07/2025 at about midnight, the Houston Police Department escalated a foot pursuit after a man fled following a reported burglary on Bellfort Avenue. A Houston police sergeant joined the chase and gave verbal commands as the man, armed with a firearm, ran toward him. The sergeant opened fire, killing the man at the scene.
