On Thursday, July 10, 2025, at about 6:20 p.m., LAPD 77th Area officers arriving at Hyde Park Boulevard and Crenshaw Boulevard observed two men fighting. Police say 63-year-old James L. Tullous Jr. exited a parked vehicle armed with a handgun and fired a round during the confrontation. Officers opened fire and killed Tullous. LAPD later released critical-incident video; the shooting remains under Force Investigation Division and D.A. review. Officer names have not been released.
