On July 17, 2025, Judith Brooks Paulsel, aged 79, was critically injured when a stolen Camaro, pursued by San Antonio police, collided with a passenger bus on Interstate 35. The high-speed chase resulted in a massive multi-vehicle wreck involving four vehicles, causing five fatalities and injuring over a dozen others.
Paulsel was transported from the scene to Brooke Army Medical Center for emergency care but succumbed to her injuries four days later. The collision triggered a large-scale emergency response, including San Antonio Police Department and Bexar County EMS. The investigation into the pursuit and resulting crash remains ongoing.
