OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 07/15/2025, Fall River Police Department officers responded to a residence at 117 Langley Street after receiving multiple calls from family members reporting that 38-year-old Domonick Cornwallace Knight was experiencing a mental health crisis, was armed with firearms, and was making suicidal statements. Officers evacuated other occupants of the duplex and neighboring residents while a trained crisis negotiator attempted to communicate with Knight for approximately one hour.
According to investigators, officers entered the residence after negotiations were unsuccessful. Shortly after entry, Knight fired at officers from the top of a staircase, and officers returned fire. Knight was found on the second-floor landing with a gunshot wound to the head and two firearms nearby. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The incident was investigated by the Massachusetts State Police assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office. On 10/29/2025, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner ruled that Knight died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and classified the manner of death as suicide. Investigators concluded that Knight fired the first shots during the encounter. Investigative steps were reported as continuing, but the medical examiner determined that police gunfire was not the cause of death.
