OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

An off-duty deputy with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office struck and killed 20-year-old Jackson Cunningham and another pedestrian with an unmarked patrol vehicle around 1:50 a.m. near SR-292 and River Road. The deputy was returning home from an off-duty assignment. The Florida Highway Patrol is leading the investigation. Cunningham, originally from Pelham, Alabama, was remembered as a kind and outgoing young man. The other victim was also a friend.
