OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Brownsville police responded to reports of a man chasing a woman with a hammer near a pawnshop. Officers escorted the woman to her home on Coria Street, staying nearby due to concerns. Minutes later, gunfire was heard. Officers discovered the woman had been shot. A responding officer opened fire, striking and critically wounding Bernardo Pedraza. He was transported to a hospital, where he later died of his wounds. The Texas Rangers are investigating the incident.
