OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

Brownsville police responded to reports that a man was chasing a woman with a hammer near a pawn shop. Officers escorted the woman, Nora Zuniga, to her home on Coria Street and briefly left the scene. Shortly after, officers returned and heard gunshots. Zuniga was discovered to have been shot by the man. She was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later died. An officer then returned fire and fatally shot the man. Both individuals—Zuniga and the man—died in the incident.
