Late on July 30, 2025, the Dallas Police Department initiated a vehicle stop in Garland on a vehicle linked to previous incidents. When the driver refused to stop, officers elevated the incident into a high-speed pursuit that continued into Dallas. The man drove against traffic on Northwest Highway, near Love Field Airport. Around 1:30 a.m., the pursued vehicle collided head-on with a Dallas PD SUV, resulting in a multi-vehicle crash. A bystander—a passenger in another vehicle involved in the collision—was taken to a hospital, where he later died from his injuries. Two Dallas police officers were also injured.
