On July 31, 2025, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to a domestic violence call on the 16000 block of Sigman Street in Hacienda Heights. Ramon Flores Jr, 57, was reportedly assaulting a woman and armed with two large kitchen knives. Upon deputies’ arrival, Flores allegedly advanced toward them. In response, deputies opened fire. Flores was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead. The LASD Homicide Bureau is leading the investigation, with support from the Professional Standards Bureau to review the use of force. No body-worn camera footage has been reported, and there have been no public protests or statements from family members challenging the police account.
