OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On 08/02/2025 at approximately 9:50 p.m., deputies with the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Branam Road near Many. During the encounter, deputies attempted to contact an armed man outside the residence. The encounter escalated, and a deputy fired his weapon, striking the man. Deputies immediately rendered aid until emergency medical personnel arrived. The man was transported to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The Louisiana State Police Bureau of Investigations assumed responsibility for the investigation at the request of the Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office. Detectives are processing the scene, collecting evidence, and conducting interviews. The investigation remains active, and the case will be presented to the Sabine Parish District Attorney's Office upon completion.
