On December 15, 2024, at approximately 3 p.m., Charlotte County Sheriff's Corporal Elio Diaz conducted a traffic stop at a Chevron gas station located at 4100 Tamiami Trail in Charlotte Harbor, Florida. During the encounter, the driver, 24-year-old Andrew Mostyn, pulled out a rifle and opened fire on Corporal Diaz, fatally wounding him.
Mostyn fled the scene and was later located near a Popeyes restaurant on Kings Highway. When deputies approached him, Mostyn reached for a rifle. Deputies opened fire and killed him.

On 12/13/2024, Colorado Springs Police officers were sent to a report of a suicidal man near the 3800 block of Astrozon Boulevard. On 12/10/2024, at approximately 4:05 a.m., 45-year-old Steven Woods was found unresponsive in his cell at the Oklahoma County Jail during breakfast service. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Preliminary investigations suggest suicide as the cause of death. Woods had been booked into the jail on 12/08/2024 by the Oklahoma County Sheriff's Office on a drug charge, with a bond set at $25,000. The Okla

On 12/10/2024, in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, Santiago Gutierrez, 29, was fatally shot by police during an incident on Cameron Street. Gutierrez was wanted in connection with the December 8 fatal shooting of 25-year-old Jhonny Torres. Police located Gutierrez operating a semi-truck and attempted to apprehend him.

On 12/10/2024, at approximately 10:15 PM, a California Highway Patrol officer attempted to stop a silver Nissan sedan on Pleasant Valley Road near Wood Road in Camarillo for vehicle code violations. The driver, Jose Meza, did not stop. Police escalated a chase onto northbound Las Posas Road and then southbound Highway 101, reaching speeds over 100 mph. Meza attempted to exit at the Lewis Road offramp but collided with the center guardrail. He was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced deceased at Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
