OPEN RECORDS SUMMARY :

On Sunday night, July 13, 2025, at approximately 9:25 p.m., deputies with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle near Choudrant, Louisiana. The driver refused to stop, prompting deputies to initiate a pursuit westbound on Interstate 20. The chase continued for roughly 16 miles until the driver exited onto U.S. Highway 167, just south of Ruston.
The man eventually came to a stop near Paradise Point Lane, a rural area along the highway. According to the sheriff’s office, the man exited the vehicle armed with a handgun and allegedly ignored repeated commands to drop the weapon. After a brief standoff, deputies opened fire, striking and killing the man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
No deputies were reported injured during the encounter. Authorities have not released the man’s identity, citing pending next-of-kin notification or ongoing investigation. It is unknown whether he fired at deputies or pointed the weapon.
The Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation. As of this writing, no body camera footage has been released, and the names of the deputies involved remain undisclosed. Officials have not stated whether the man was known to law enforcement or whether any warrants were outstanding.
